Hypnosis Self Help - Language of the Mind
Language is one of the areas where we can exercise our free will and create positive changes in our lives. By simply choosing the words you use, you can feel healthier, more confident and able to have the life you want.
Our conscious mind takes everything literally and our subconscious mind doesn’t know the difference between real and imagined. That is why positive affirmations work.
Think about some of the words you may use about yourself. You may say, “I don’t have any willpower, therefore it is hard for me to quit smoking (lose weight).” Without willpower, you would not be able to get out of bed and go to work, so of course, you have willpower.
I recommend to my weight clients not to use the word “lose”. Because the English languages has many definitions for just one word, the conscious and subconscious mind can take “lose” as loser (not succeeding), or lose it and you must find it (yikes). For all of my clients, I recommend to refrain from using “no or non”. The subconscious does not hear those words, i.e. non-smoker becomes smoker.
See if you can change these negative thoughts into positive ones.
1. Every time I’ve tried to stop smoking, I’ve failed.
2. My emotions get the better of me.
3. It is hard for me to …..
4. I can’t forget (name of a person).
5. Every time I want to get something done, I procrastinate.
6. I feel bad all the time.
7. I feel pain (in a part of the body).
