Hypnosis Self Help - All the World’s a Stage
“All the world’s a stage, and all the men and women, merely players; they have their exits and their entrances, and one man in his time plays many parts.”
Shakespeare, “As You Like It”
As the above saying says, we have many roles to play in our lives. Whether it is a son/daughter, wife/husband, sister/brother, friend, teacher, healer, helper. We have the label of our profession and our hobbies.
When I was in my twenties, I went with my husband to a self improvement seminar. During this, we were to write down our labels/roles that we were playing at that time. I wrote: Wife, daughter, sister, friend, secretary, dancer. My husband wrote: Scientist, Psychologist, tennis player, husband, son, brother. We label ourselves based upon what we are focusing on at this moment. I would probably say now: Hypnotist, teacher, mother, spiritualist, friend, sister, healer.
But these labels do not define who we really are. If I were to ask you, “Are you lovable?”, you might respond “of course”. But how do you quantify that you are lovable? You may say that you are loved by someone or that you love someone, but that has nothing to do with whether you are lovable.
Take a moment and list your traits, that which really defines you.
Kind, lovable, funny, generous, etc would be some of the traits you might have. If you don’t know, then ask a friend. I have found that if I were to describe a friend’s traits, they probably mirror mine. Try that also!
Once you have your list, then quantify, state how it is true. Get to know the true you, not just the label.
